Community Buildings

Community buildings, village halls and other assets owned by the community, like playing fields, are at the very heart of communities.

ACT supports the volunteers who manage and maintain these facilities through our free Community Buildings Service. We can help with bursary work, providing model documents, safeguarding and much more to keep these spaces running smoothly and at their best within the community.

ACT can provide the following support:

  • A place to come with any community building related query

  • Guidance sheets and video case studies

  • Community Buildings Events, updates and ACT newsletter

  • Entry onto the Cumbria Community Buildings Directory

  • National voice for village halls, via ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England)

  • Providing specialist ACRE Village Hall Information Sheets (on request for free) & relevant model documents for specific enquiries/tasks

  • Help with capital improvement projects through certain bursaries

  • Instant access to commercial utility quotations from a list of reliable credit-vetted energy suppliers at any time

What you can do:

  • Contact ACT Officers about your queries at info@cumbriaaction.org.uk and to receive Community Buildings updates & events invites and become an ACT Supporter for your community building

  • Join the ‘Cumbria Village Hall Network’ Facebook group to contact other hall committees across the county and share and connect with others involved in running halls in Cumbria
