Many communities want to support people to travel to services in and outside of their community. Often this looks like a campaign for a bus, but there are other options and local initiatives that can be successful in meeting the local needs.

ACT can:

  • Support communities to develop community transport initiatives using local knowledge to find their best ways to enable local people to access the services they need.

  • Support communities to access the professional and peer support they need as they develop their ideas.

  • Assist communities to work together in their locality to develop sustainable transport options.

  • Support for communities to explore projects that reduce the need to travel.

  • Support the exploration of opportunities for communal travel initiatives within communities, where possible.

  • Support communities to make their case to the authorities to gain support for local initiatives and changes in policy.
