Young people aged between 14 and 35 who live in Cumbria are being invited to share their experiences, concerns and hopes for the county by completing the Youth Ask survey.
The Youth Ask is a county-wide consultation designed to find out what it is like for young people to live, study and work in Cumbria, as well as what they believe needs to change in the future.
Parents, employers, community organisations and anyone who works with young people are also being encouraged to share the survey and help as many eligible participants as possible to have their say.
Cumbria is expected to welcome its first Mayor in 2027. The Mayor will have access to additional funding and will be able to influence decisions affecting communities across the county.
These decisions could include important issues for young people living in rural areas, such as public transport, affordable housing, education, training and employment opportunities.
The Youth Ask gives Cumbria’s younger generation an opportunity to explain which issues matter most to them and what they would like the county’s future leaders to prioritise.
The consultation is being led by young people from the Cumbria Future Generation Steering Group. The group will gather and present the survey findings to the candidates standing to become Cumbria’s first Mayor.
This will help ensure that the experiences and priorities of younger residents are understood and considered as plans for the future of the county are developed.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Those taking part will also be given the option to enter a prize draw.
